AVR from vaste to energy with Emotron FDU & MSF

AVR is the largest processor of residual heat in the Netherlands. At the same time it is one of the most sustainable energy producers. That’s because AVR see energy in waste. With the aid of modern technology, AVR convert waste into steam, heat and electricity. These valuable products are put to good use, for example in the industrial processes of nearby businesses or for heating homes in the region, with the added advantage that the AVR incineration plants are extremely efficient.

Tonnes of waste converted into energy
The Dutch population puts out millions of tonnes of waste a year. In the Netherlands AVR burn this waste in waste and power plants. In 2013 AVR took care of 2.0 million tonnes of Dutch waste.

Also some of the neighbouring countries make grateful use of AVR’s facilities. This waste is transported to AVR in a sustainable way, by water. In 2012 AVR processed 0.3 million tonnes of imported waste.

The waste material brought in consists of just about everything. AVR extract everything that can be recycle, such as metals. The rest is burned or, in other words: converted into energy.

New warmteweg in Rotterdam
When AVR planned a new warmteweg for the district heating in Rotterdam (De Nieuwe Warmte Weg): CG Drives & Automation was the preferred supplier. The reason to choose CG is the good experience from previous cooperation and the appreciation towards the high quality products of CG. The new warmteweg DNWW in Rotterdam-Zuid is a high profile project and the choice of products and supplier are therefore very important. The project consists of a 26-kilometre long pipeline from Rozenburg to Rotterdam- with a capacity equal to the consumption of 50,000 households - transports excess heat from the port to the heart of Rotterdam. From autumn 2013 DNWW this mean a massive reduction in CO2 in the Rijnmond region, making it one of the key projects of the Rotterdam Climate Initiative.

The solution
To secure the flow and save energy AVR is using Emotron FDU AC drives. Emotron FDU 2.0 optimizes the operation of the pumps, fans, compressors and blowers. The process is protected from damage and downtime, and that gives the benefit from reduced installation, energy and maintenance costs. To ensure smooth start and stop sequences, Emotron MSF 2.0 softstarter is installed.
